New alliance with Accenture, Avanade and Microsoft

The IT hosting company Basefarm enters into an alliance with Accenture, Avanade Norge and Microsoft. The quartet will help the Minister of Modernisation, Jan Tore Sanner, to move the public sector into the cloud and contribute to increased digitalisation and greater productivity.

– The collaboration is strategic, and we want to offer one contact and delivery point for the partners’ total range of services. In other words, we are establishing a secure, scalable and flexible global platform which will realise targets within digitalisation, modernisation and innovation, Morten Meier, director for the public sector in Microsoft Norge, says.

Basefarm has been invited into the already established partnership between Accenture, Avanade Norge and Microsoft. In order to meet the demand for a Norwegian cloud, Basefarm will supplement with further 6000 square metres of data centre capacity at Lørenskog this autumn.

In order to make it easier for Norwegian customers to use international services while complying with all regulatory requirements, Basefarm offers hybrid cloud services. The hybrid cloud entails connecting Basefarm’s private, Norwegian cloud to global cloud services with almost unlimited capacity. A hybrid cloud solution provides the customer with full flexibility regarding the placement of data – for example in Norway when the legislation assumes this.

Accenture, Avanade Norge and Microsoft have decided to lean on this hybrid solution, which may be the solution for everyone with a digital marching order from Minister Sanner.

– This will provide private and public players with a new, Norwegian cloud that lowers the threshold for utilising the opportunities, not least in industries and sectors that depend on a high level of security and the storing of certain data in Norway, acting CEO Bjart Kvarme in Basefarm says.

– Cloud services change the way in which we work, and are a central part of the digital transformation journey. Moving infrastructure solutions and applications to the cloud is not just about being able to reduce ICT costs. It also provides new opportunities for increased efficiency, productivity, performance and innovation through new ways of working, Lena Lundgreen, Country Manager of Avanade Norge, says.

– This is about making life easier for the customer. With this solution, our customer can easily and safely deliver digital cloud services that citizens, consumers and the business sector increasingly expect. This opens the door for new and innovative solutions that the entire society will benefit from, Tonje Sandberg, CEO of Accenture, says.

  • Microsoft, Accenture, Avanade Norge and Basefarm enter into a broad alliance in order to position themselves for hybrid cloud services (Norwegian private cloud and public, international cloud).
  • Already the alliance supplies a Norwegian cloud that complies with the regulatory requirements of the Norwegian government.
  • The employer receives one common point of contact for the alliance, which will rig teams/virtual organisations according to the employers’ issues.
  • Initially the alliance is directed towards the public sector, medium and large companies. The alliance will provide customised solutions towards a number of sectors, such as bank/insurance, health, state/municipality, industry, and tourism.

The alliance supports the Digital agenda and Nasjonal strategi for bruk av skytjenester (National strategy for the use of cloud services) from April 2016.
