Basefarm launches Microsoft Azure Stack as a Service
Basefarm is collaborating with Microsoft to provide Microsoft Azure Stack as a Service. This strengthens Basefarm’s ability to provide one of the best hybrid cloud solutions to their clients.
Basefarm is offering their clients Azure Stack as a Service, a new hybrid cloud platform and infrastructure. This consolidates Basefarm’s status as a premier hybrid cloud solution provider.
“We are very happy to be working with Microsoft to offer Azure Stack as a Service,” says Knut Rand, Chief Strategy Officer at Basefarm. “We already offer our clients support for other Microsoft products and services, and this is a logical next step. This fits with our strategy of providing beneficial hybrid cloud solutions to our customers.”
The cloud offers benefits such as flexibility, scalability and efficiency. However, many companies continue to rely on their own data centers due to compliance or regulatory reasons. Companies and organizations in the health, finance or public sectors often need to use local data centers and therefore miss out on the benefits of the cloud.
Azure Stack as a Service is a solution consistent with the public cloud but can be locally hosted. Developers and IT Pros will use the same tools and processes to build, test, deploy and manage their applications.
“Digital transformation is impacting every company in every industry,” says Petter Merok, Director of Cloud and Enterprise at Microsoft Norway. “Application modernization is at the heart of digital transformation, with the opportunity to help companies engage customers, empower employees, optimize operations and transform products. With Azure Stack as a service Basefarm is able to bring the agility and fast-paced innovation of cloud computing to on-premises environments. Organizations can build innovative applications across hybrid cloud environments, balancing the right amount of flexibility and control.”
Developers can build applications using a consistent set of Azure services and DevOps processes and tools, then collaborate with operations to deploy to the location that best meets the business, technical, and regulatory requirements, Merok explains. Developers can speed up new cloud application development by using pre-built components from the Azure Marketplace, including open source tools and technologies.
“Some customers may have latency issues with some applications which can be solved by using Basefarm’s local data center,” says Geir Morten Allum, Senior Cloud Architect at Basefarm. “Others may want to use Azure Stack as a Service as part of their modernization. We are a key player in the market and can help them test the functionality in a low-risk way.”
Basefarm has participated in the Early Adopter Initiative program for Azure Stack and has been preparing for the public release for some time. Offering Azure Stack as a Service is one more way Basefarm continues to be on of the leading managed service provider for mission critical business applications.
Microsoft is launching Azure Stack today and it will be available from Basefarm during the fall. You can read more about what is being launched on the Microsoft blog post: https://aka.ms/azurestackishere.
